Hollywood Coyote

Photo of urban coyote near the Hollywood Sign

The very adaptable coyote is found throughout North America and often in close proximity to people — very close.  Like bears they scavenge where humans have garbage and pet food outside for them to take advantage of but unlike bears they hide well and mostly go unnoticed.  That is, unless the food they are scavenging is your small dog or cat (or other small pet).  You can see from this photograph taken by a friend of Love to Groom (in Glendale, CA) who works for a luxury tour company how well the animal blends in to its surroundings.  This photograph was taken recently on an early morning tour up near the Hollywood Sign.  Is Warner Brothers recasting for Wile E. Coyote?

Fred’s Halloween Costume

Photo of Fred, the Littlest PirateHere is our friend, Fred, decked out to help us hand out Halloween candy.  It was a safe and delightful holiday at Love to Groom in Glendale, CA with lots of cute costumed kids coming by the shop.  Some even had their dogs in tow.  But Fred was the cutest and had some healthy treats as a reward for his assistance.  Arfff, matey!

I Smell Whale Poop

Photo of Tucker Tracking Whale Scat

You would think it would be a big and smelly mess but surprisingly killer whale excrement is difficult for research scientists in Washington State to locate and collect.  However, with the help of a black labrador retriever that particular obstacle is overcome.  Tucker, shown above at work, uses his doggie nose to locate and point his handlers to the floating crap that is scientific gold.  With Tucker’s help researchers hope to monitor the health of native orcas and better understand the ecosystem and upper end of the food chain in the Pacific Northwest waters.  Good for you, Tucker!

And if your dog, when off duty, needs a bath and a haircut, a nail trimming or just a spa day away from home, we here at Love to Groom in Glendale, California offer a home-like, stress free grooming experience that will be like a short vacation for your pet.  You pick up your dog clean and trimmed and smelling nice ready to return to work which might not be finding whale poop.

Pushkin Helps Out at Show Pony in Los Angeles

Photo of English Bulldog at Show Pony boutique in Los AngelesOne of the great shopping districts of Los Angeles is W. 3rd Street, near Beverly Hills.  One of the fine boutiques to have opened there recently is Show Pony.  Pushkin, an English Bulldog, belongs to Stephanie, the owner of the store, and helps customers select designer clothing and original jewelry along with other fine accessories.  We are hoping that Pushkin, new to Los Angeles, will have his next bath and clipping at Love to Groom in Glendale.

Hollywood Cruising Dog

Photo of goggled white dog in a red PT Cruiser in Hollywood

This guy smiled for our camera because he knew how much we appreciated his overall coolness.  Googled and seatbelted he is ready to yowl at the snooty collared bitches walking the sidewalks of Beverly Hills.  We wonder if he got his haircut at Love to Groom in nearby Glendale, California.

A Little Off the Sides

Rubes comic makes fun of poodle cutsLeigh Rubin made us all laugh with this one but amidst our chuckling we decided that our LOVE TO GROOM poodles were all quite proud of the way they looked and felt when they left here after a traditional poodle cut. You must certainly admit that a good poodle cut is cooler in our hot southern California summers and a cool dog is a happy dog.  Bring your poodle by, miniature – toy – standard, for a traditional cut or a custom cut.  We’ll see that your dog is stylish and cool here in Glendale, CA.

Paddlewear for Puppies

Photo of dogs on a paddle boat each wearing lifevests

We saw this photograph on the Sacramento Bee website and thought of our own boating experiences here in southern California.   We work with a luxury tour company (Elite Adventure Tours) that invites families to bring their dogs along to see Hollywood and Beverly Hills so why wouldn’t families also want to take their pups out on a local lake or to the ocean.  If you are on a boat and required to wear a lifevest then you should also have safety wear for each of your pets.  We have always relied on the excellent products from Outward Hound and know they have a number of vest styles for different breeds and sizes of dogs.

Of course, after swimming in the river, lake or ocean a visit to the groomer is in order.  If are near Glendale, CA then come on over to Love to Groom for a bath, blow dry and comb out.

Keeping Cool in the Groomer’s Pool

Photo of Bull Terrier being bathed at Love to Groom

There is nothing like a cool bath on a very hot southern California summer day.  This English Bull Terrier is having a very good time and I must admit that when the dogs really enjoy the water we give them a little extra tub time here at Love to Groom in Glendale, California.

The weather here has been exceptionally hot.  Please remember to keep your pets cool and with access to plenty of drinking water.  Heat stroke is a very serious condition and so easy to avoid.

Sweet (and crunchy) Dreams

Photo of puppy asleep in a bowl of kibble

This little guy won’t have far to go to get breakfast.  My only concern is his brother or sister whose bowl he is asleep in.  I sure hope they notice before they chow down.  Thanks to our Love to Groom friend sending this sweet photograph to add to our collection of doggie photos.  Some we take ourselves in our doggie photo studio and some we receive from like-minded customers.
