The very adaptable coyote is found throughout North America and often in close proximity to people — very close. Like bears they scavenge where humans have garbage and pet food outside for them to take advantage of but unlike bears they hide well and mostly go unnoticed. That is, unless the food they are scavenging is your small dog or cat (or other small pet).
